Slovakia is among the cheapest members of the European Union, making it an attractive destination for both holidays and shopping trips if you live near the border. Furthermore, it will be cheapest to visit one of the chain supermarkets such as Kaufland, Lidl, Tesco, Carrefour or more Slovak networks such as Bill, CBA, Hypernova or Moja samoska than at private retail outlets. In smaller towns, on the other hand, there are only small shops with a slightly smaller selection of products. In turn, you should always go to the local market for fresh fruit and vegetables.
