There are plenty of approaches, but unfortunately, the most effective ones are usually at the same time harmful to our health. Therefore, it is better to turn to natural, home-made methods for mosquito problem.

Above all: do not lure the mosquitoes in!
It’s the safest way (and for us and for insects). To use it, you need to know what mosquitoes like and … avoid it like fire.
So: What attracts mosquitoes?
- Moisture,
- Floral and fruity fragrances (including perfumes, cosmetics and cleaning products),
- Dark colors.
It does not hurt to wear a long-sleeved T-shirt and pants.
In addition, it is worth to protect yourself using natural mosquito repellents. Which ones?
Essential oils
Essential oils can be applied directly to the skin after dilution. A good way is to use so-called diffusers, thanks to which the smell of oils is released.
What kind of smell do mosquitoes dislike?
Smells hated by the mosquitoes include:
Vanilla oil,
Rosemary oil,
Bergamot oil,
Cinnamon oil,
Cedar oil,
Clove oil,
Eucalyptus oil,
Lemongrass oil.
Vitamin B against mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are lured by the smell of sweat, so you can try to change it by taking B group vitamins. According to some, mosquitoes are effectively deterred. And it is not harmful at all! (in such cases, we always recommend that you consult your doctor.)

Which plants deter mosquitoes?
Mosquitoes are also deterred by smells of some plants. The insects do not like the smell of catnip, basil, lavender, thyme, mint, geranium, as well as tomato leaves.

It is easily available and cheap, and it will effectively deter mosquitoes, especially if combined with walnut leaves.
Here’s how to prepare a natural mosquito repellant:
Add 2 washed, dried and finely chopped walnut leaves to 200 ml of vinegar and cook for 10 minutes. Strain, cool and apply mixture of skin to places most prone to bites.
The smell of vinegar can disturb some people, which is why we have a much more pleasant way. Coffee!
Coffee against mosquitoes
On a plate or aluminum foil spread coffee beans, set them on fire and voila, a natural repellent for mosquitoes is ready!
You can also add a bay leaf to the grains.
What about protecting the children from mosquito bites?
Although there are plenty of mosquito preparations in stores, most of them should not be used in the presence (or on the skin) of children – especially infants. Therefore, it is worth reaching for the above-mentioned homemade methods against mosquitoes.

Essential oils, although natural, are not always safe for children.
They can be allergic, so use them with caution!
