Hvar is not only the longest, but also the sunniest island of Croatia. This place boasts the largest number of hours of sunshine per year. The weather on the island of Hvar definitely favors tourism. The season practically begins in May and lasts until October. Temperatures in May reach over 20 degrees, only the evenings can be cooler, because at night the thermometers show an average of 12 degrees. That is why it is worth to pack warmer clothes with you. From June you can enjoy the typical holiday weather on Hvar. Temperatures reach over 25 degrees, and in July and August they reach over 30 degrees in the shade. Then the sunlight hours during the day are from 10 to 11. Fortunately, cool winds blowing over the Adriatic, tramontana and mistral bring relief. Summer rains are sporadic or very rare. Rather, they are sudden thunderstorms with brief rainfall. They disappear as suddenly as they appear.
The autumn in its initial phase is very warm, which only further extends the tourist season. In September and October temperatures still reach above 20 degrees, however the number of sunlight hours during the day drops to as a few as six. The nights are definitely cooler then and you have to take this into account when packing your luggage. Rain can also appear more often, but it’s still good weather for sightseeing.

Due to the mild and short winter, the water in the sea does not cool down too much. Already in April it slowly begins to rise again to reach 17-18 degrees in May. For those willing, the sea is already warmed up enough to take a bath, especially since the air temperature is already over 20 degrees. In June, the water temperature on Hvar reaches even 23 degrees and seems optimal for swimming in the Adriatic. In the warmest months, the sea warms up to 25 degrees, and from September it slowly begins to cool down. However, even in October at 20 degrees, some are eager to take a bath. Especially on nice sunny days. From November, the water temperature on Hvar cools further, and weather conditions are no longer favorable for bathing in the sea.
