The weather in Bulgaria, as everywhere, is conditioned by the climate. In this country it is moderate, rather warm and dry. By the sea much more humid (subtropical).
It’s somewhat Mediterranean character means that the tourist season lasts from May to October, and in other seasons the temperature is also quite pleasant.
The coldest month on the coast is definitely January. In turn, in the mountains there is a phenomenon of climatic stacking, i.e. the weather and atmospheric conditions change with increasing altitude.
This is also where the greatest rainfall occurs, mainly snow, which at low temperatures in the mountains creates ideal conditions for all winter sports.
Summer in Bulgaria, i.e. when the weather is the best
The best months to relax in Bulgaria are of course July and August, when the temperature can reach almost 30 degrees Celsius in the shade.
The sun shines for almost 10 hours a day, and on the coast the heat is cooled by a pleasant sea breeze and the wind blowing from the water.
However, when we do not belong to the fans of lying on the beach and want to do some sightseeing, a better choice will definitely be June or September, when temperatures are not so high, and sometimes even a rainy day can happen.
There is nothing to fear, in the summer rainfall, especially on the coast are rare and fleeting.
When going on vacation to Bulgaria, however, before or after the season, it is worth to pack some warmer clothes in the suitcase, because the evenings can be cooler.
In May rainy days may meet us more often, and in October despite the fact that we still have warm weather (over 20 degrees during the day), the evenings are really autumn then and you just have to dress warmer.

In July and August the water is warmest because it is heated by the rays of the sun. If we were going to the coast, e.g. in May, the water may still be too cool. In turn, for example, in October it will be still warm enough and as soon as the weather allows it we will definitely take a bath in the sea.
