You have to start with the fact that Kotor is not a perfect place for vacation if you want to enjoy blissful laziness on the beach. In general, the entire area of the Bay of Kotor does not have a lot of space for sunbathing. If there are fragments of the coast somewhere, they are rather concrete sections to be used by people willing to take both sea and sun baths.
There are several pebble beaches around the entire Bay of Kotor, but in Kotor itself you will not experience a real beach.
Kotor beaches
Yes, near the old town (a few hundred meters towards Perast) in Kotor there is one city beach. However, it is pebble with small stones, and its small size leaves much to be desired. This is particularly evident during the summer, when the high season is simply crowded here.
As for the local amenities, apart from the palm trees planted along the beach, a concrete platform is waiting for tourists. And that’s all. When going to the beach in Kotor, it is also worth taking a towel or deckchair with you to spend time comfortably, because this type of infrastructure is also clearly lacking here.
However, a plus is the fact that the bathing area in the water is limited by buoys. And in the evening from this beach there is a fantastic view of the highlighted walls of the old city.
For this reason, most lovers of water attractions must look for better conditions in nearby towns. At a distance of about 8 kilometers from Kotor, there is a large, white pebble and rocky beach in Orahovac. It is about a kilometer long, but it is quite narrow.
This beach is surrounded by buildings and trees, under which you can hide from the scorching sun. Due to the gently sloping bottom, it is an ideal place for families with children and people who want to learn to swim.
In season, you can take advantage of the offer of beach chair rentals, as well as three beach bars where you can drink and eat. It is also worth adding that the beach in Orahovac is considered by the locals to be an ideal place for sunbathing. This is due to its location on the northern shore of the Bay of Kotor.
Orahovac has the longest sunshine period during the day.

Another option in the Kotor area is also Bajova Kula beach, located about 10 kilometers from the city. This is another small but well-organized place, ideal for sunbathing. On site there are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, a small bar and a gentle entrance to the water. It is also worth knowing that Bajova Kula beach is partly pebble and rocky, and partly artificially concreted. The larger part is occupied by paid deckchairs. Some guests complain about loud music coming from the local bar.
